Whilst digging through some photos on an old hard drive, I came across some bentos from 2008 (!) that I couldn't resist sharing. They're from when I first started making bento (and I didn't blog them back then!)
I wasn't the best bento packer in the world back then and only had one box and no accessories (eep! I don't know how I managed - Hee!) but I thought I'd share them anyway to show everyone has to start somewhere and to make a fun lunch you don't need funky shapes and picks, it's just a nice thing to have. I would like to think I get better the longer I try and make lunches, and I know I have certainly got quicker!
This lunch contained cucumber and peppers, water biscuits, hummus, veggies spring rolls, large rice crackers and some mini bars of Green and Blacks (These bars no longer have the vegan labelling, but was at the time).
This one I remember having veggies sausage in, that went all chewy and weird (top right). It didn't look too appetising either if I'm honest... it also had raw carrot and cucumber, with a pitta, randomly scattered cherry tomatoes and nut and seed mix!
Looking at these lunches I definitely don't eat enough crackers these days! I obviously used to love them. This one contains raw cucumber, yellow pepper, veggie spring rolls, grapes and water biscuits / rice crackers.
This one is probably my favourite - raw cucumber and pepper, pretzels, grapes and home-made pizza with vegan pesto, peppers and onions.
I hope you enjoyed my little trip down lunch memory lane! :)
You can also see my first bento post
here that has a selection from back in 2008 too if you so wish.
